(More customer reviews)While this helmet may be appropriate in some situations, it is not, in my opinion, suitable for all types of climbing.
Specifically, the helmet has a outer shell that appears to protect a substantial portion of the climber/belayer's head, but upon closer inspection you will notice that the crushable bicycle style foam (i.e. what absorbs impact and protects your brain) is only on the top of the helmet.
The helmet may provide protection to a belayer or climber from falling objects or falling directly on top of the head, but not from font, side or rear of head impacts. So, in my opinion, there is inadequate protection for a climbing fall, especially for lead or sport climbing.
Better options for all-round (including lead & sport) climbing helmets may be the Petzl Meteor III, Metolius Safe Tech Climbing helmet, The Mammut Tripod, or the Black Dimond Tracer.
Bottom Line: this helmet only protects the top of your head, which may be adequate in some situations, but is not good for all-round climbing.
