BUY THIS VERSION! The tent listed here is model number CB-9001-10. The other third party buying options listed on amazon are CB-9001. I first called amazon and they couldn't give me an answer about the difference. I then called North Pole at 1-866-706-9377 and got the low-down. The CB-9001-10 is the newest, 2010 version.
After a tremendous amount of research, I decided this tent was definitely the way to go for our family of four. I will not repeat everything previous reviewers have said here (read all reviews under other buying options on this site as well as additional reviews outside of amazon), but I do want to pass on newest model info.
The difference with newer model:
1. Added awning: a good addition, but it is not over the door, which would have been more helpful, especially if you wanted to leave muddy shoes at the door.
2. Pole issue has been resolved.
3. Floor is now made of nylon. The rep says this cuts down on noise and is also less prone to holes. They do strongly advise using a tent saver underneath. Most "tent savers" I researched seemed very flimsy, but I found a great tarp that fits this tent exactly and it is sold here on amazon: "Dry Top 210156 10-foot by 15-foot Full Finish Size Reversible Tarp, 10-mm, Silver/Brown". A regular tarp would work fine too, but make sure it is slightly smaller than the tent footprint, otherwise when it rains, water will pool underneath your tent.
Additional Info missing from previous reviews:
1. Rainfly has a 800mm coating. Tent buying guides usually recommend 1000-1500mm, but this tent does seem water resistant.
2. Mesh netting is no-see-um rated.
3. Seams are factory sealed, however rep said you can use Kenyon 3 sealer as extra insurance. A bottle comes with the tent. It's a good idea to seam seal before each season.
4. Columbia does not recommend coating the tent. This can have a reverse effect on moisture control!
5. There is a limited-lifetime warranty on tent, but you must save original receipt.
6. Yes, the second room does not have its own entrance, but we have a 6 and 5 yr old, so it is decidedly a safety PLUS for us.
Hope this helps! I researched the bejeezus out of family, cabin-style tents and this one seems to be by far the best all-around tent for the price, factoring features, materials, quality and price. The only other tent I seriously considered was Eureka's Titan Luxury Family Tent. It does have slightly higher quality materials, but at nearly $200 more, not enough of a difference to justify the price jump.
In Summary: This is the newest model of this tent (verify model #CB-9001-10). Amazon's price is the same as competitors (I researched that too) and you get free shipping. Happy camping!!!
UPDATE: Our tent has been set up and camped in, and we absolutely love it! Can't think of much I'd like improved, except the location of the awning (in front of door would have been much better). We had one night of driving rain, with it pooling on the rain fly because hubby hadn't staked it tightly enough. Same said hubby also admitted he hadn't finished seam sealing. A few drops of water was the only price we paid. We especially love the big windows and ventilation.
If you're thinking of buying this tent, don't hesitate! I can confidently say you will be very happy with your purchase. It's a great value--well built, good looking, with great features all around. We look forward to many outings and building lifetime family memories with our children in this tent.

Bring the family to the campsite and still have plenty of room to spare with the two-room Columbia Cougar Flats II cabin dome tent. The Cougar Flats II--which sleeps from six to 10 people--is equipped with both a Cyclone venting system and a GoBe Dry rain protection system. The Cyclone system greatly increases the air circulation within the tent, helping you stay cool on warmer days or dry out after a nasty rainstorm. The GoBe Dry system, meanwhile, ensures that the pounding rain won't find a way inside. The tent even includes a patented bay window design that lets you keep the windows open during the storm.
The real highlight of the tent, however, is the spacious interior, which divides its ample sleeping space between two different rooms. As a result, you can give the kids one room and the adults the other, or you can use one room as a bedroom and the other as a living space. You can even zip up the divider and turn the tent into one large room. In addition, the interior of the tent offers plenty of organizational features, such as internal pockets, hanging cupholders for coffee or soft drinks, storage lockers for your clothes, and a gear loft that holds your valuables out of the way. And once it's time to leave the campsite, the tent collapses quickly into a wheeled EZ Pak storage bag, which features an expandable zippered gusset for easy stuffing.
Other features include a sturdy hybrid steel/fiberglass frame with steel and fiberglass poles, two separate doors, a Camp Port for easy cable passage, and a fully seam-taped polyester fly with an 800mm waterproof coating. The Cougar Flats II measures 15 by 7.16 by 10 feet (W x H x D) and weighs 54 pounds.

About Columbia Sportswear Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, chairman of the board, and her son, Tim Boyle, president and CEO, lead the company.
Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. The company introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then-60-year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign.
The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

Easy Outdoor Space Dome Climber Review

Easy Outdoor Space Dome Climber
Average Reviews:

We received ours this week and I just assembled it this afternoon. It took me 2 hours by myself. The instructions are straight forward and everything was in good shape, even though the box was very beat up in shipping. A 13mm box end wrench and a 5mm metric allen socket made the work MUCH easier and quicker.
I'm very impressed with the rigidity of it. Supports me easily and I'm 180#. It's a little taller than I'd like for our 3yo. And the specs say 46x91", but ours measures 49x94 assembled. Not a big deal, but something I noticed. Anyway, she's small for her age and will grow into it. The colors are bright and vibrant. The pieces seem high quality. Hopefully it will hold up well.

Amazon.com Tent Guide Selecting a Tent Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Expect the Worst In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all-purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in. If you're a backpacker, alpine climber, or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to buy something designed to handle more adversity.
Three- and Four-Season Tents For summer, early fall, and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three-season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are specifically designed for summer backpacking or other activities. Many premium tents will also feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain fly for enhanced waterproofing.
For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four-season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.
Domes and Tunnels Tents are broadly categorized into two types: freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and tents that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floorplan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being lighter. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.
Size Matters Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.
Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Coleman SunDome 7-Foot by 7-Foot 3-Person Dome Tent (Orange/Gray) Review

Coleman SunDome 7-Foot by 7-Foot 3-Person Dome Tent (Orange/Gray)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is only the second tent I've ever owned. The first one was a real crappy sub $20 from Sports Authority. That $20 one worked fine for that one night I used it for but I vowed spend a little more next time and hope for much better quality. The 2-person $20 leaked a bit, was terribly cramped and was awfully humid inside. All of those problems went away with this Coleman. Here are just a few reasons why I'm very happy with my purchase:
First, the price was pretty reasonable. If you find another brand with a similar design for a little less, that's fine and all but I was happy to pay what I paid and get a Coleman - even someone that has never been camping before knows Coleman is pretty trusted when it comes to things like tents, coolers and anything you use outdoors.
Second, I thought most of the other reviews here were pretty favorable. I'm just a guy that wants to head to a campsite 2-3 times a year and spend a night or two with my girlfriend. There was another review here about how it fit a guy and his fiancée with a queen size air mattress very well. That review pretty much sold me and it was spot on. I also learned that a queen size air mattress is actually a little smaller than a regular size full size you'd have in your home. That's still fine for two people but just don't think you're going to fit a giant mattress in there. The "queen" Coleman air mattress I purchased fit very well with ample room to spare.
Third, I like the colors of this tent - definitely not a great reason to base your choice of shelter but I still like the way it looks.
Fourth, It poured rain as we slept the first night. It was a pretty bad thunderstorm and it came down hard. There were not any leaks I could find. It also probably helped that this was a brand new tent, I'm pretty sure all tents will spring leaks as they get older and require seam sealer.
Fifth, Ease of use - this thing goes up and comes down pretty easily. A child can figure this thing out and it fits in a bag that's pretty small and easy to manage.
So if you're like me and just need a nice little tent for the occasional camping trip, this is a great choice. You can see how it looks in my pics compared to a giant 8 person tent too.

Coleman Red Canyon 17-Foot by 10-Foot 8-Person Modified Dome Tent Review

My husband and I were able to set the tent up easily. The second day of camping it started to sprinkle , then during the night and early morning it poured. We didn't have one drop of water in our tent. It was wonderful after prior
experiences with two different tents. (Indoor pools in our tent)
There are two panels you can hang to divide the space. My kids each had their own room on the ends.
We liked the little mesh panel for the ceiling used for a small cargo hold.
Highly recommended!

Coleman Tent Light Review

Coleman Tent Light
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a really nice piece of camping kit, as it "clips" with the magnet to any part of your tent in seconds. (It's got a pretty strong magnet bar, which goes on the outside of your tent, and the metal bracket of the light anchors it on the inside.) At first I wondered if the tight contact of the light would cause the tent to leak, and so far the answer has been a very clear and dry no, on many tents of different fabric.
The light is incandescent, inside a traditional sealed bulb. I have had no problem with the light or bulb in the 4+ years I've owned this light. The lens diffuses the light nicely, so if you put this light at the crown of your tent, you will have light throughout.
My only problem with this unit is that it's kind of big and bulky. It's not that heavy, even with the four AA batteries installed, but it's kind of large. In a camping world in which we've got wind-up LED systems and increasingly smaller lights which provide more and more light, I would think that an up-tech'd version of this light could be smaller and throw out more light. If you're doing backwoods trekking where every ounce counts, this is probably not the solution you need. But if you're doing family camping, car camping, or going to camps that have existing tents (summer camps, scout camps), then this is a really fantastic piece of gear.
----------
Update, 24 July 2008
Now about a year on, here are additional comments on this product:
It continues to function just fine, but I have one complaint. I do not store this unit with batteries in it, so each time I go camping I open the case to install and then later remove the batteries.
(The case opens by way of gently pinching the two sides together at the lamp's waist, between the on/off switch and the lower magnetic housing. There are no locks, screws, springs or mechanical latches; the two parts of the lamp are kept together only by the plastic flex of the upper lamp housing itself.)
After a year of easy and careful use the upper plastic housing around the pinch points has started to crack. The unit still works just fine (I just got back from a week in the woods), but it's only a matter of time now until the housing splits or a large chunk of the plastic comes off, preventing the unit from coming together and thereby ruining it.
----------------
Update, 26 May 2009
The cracks at the waist are slightly bigger, and slowly growing. The light still works fine, and just served me well on yet another campout, but the day is coming when that plastic housing breaks permanently, and this light will be finished.
----------------
Update, 8 October 2010
Another spring and summer gone, and this light continues to soldier on. It's still got its original bulb and all other original parts. No corrosion, no rust inside or out. No clouding of the plastic lens. The cracking of the waist area I mention above has stabilized somewhat, with no plastic pieces having come off. It still works great, and it'll be with me into another fall and winter of Scout camping.
----------------
Update, 2 June 2011
Getting ready for another campout this weekend, and this light is packed and ready to go. No changes since the last update, still working just fine.

A great addition to any camping trip, the Coleman tent light will keep your tent illuminated during the evening hours. The light attaches to your tent poles easily and securely via the built-in magnet, so you needn't worry about damaging your tent fabric. The light's powerful, replaceable Krypton bulb, meanwhile, offers plenty of light for reading, playing games, or chatting. Best of all, the light--which operates on four AA batteries (sold separately)--won't get in your way while you sleep or hang out, unlike standard lanterns. Made in China, the light includes an easy on/off switch.

Kelty Trail Dome 4 Footprint Review

Kelty Trail Dome 4 Footprint
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the footprint that is available for purchase after the first use of my Kelty Trail Dome 4 Tent. The floor material of the tent is so thin you can feel every twig and pebble. I found the footprint material also thinner than I expected so be sure to have some sort of mattress to be comfortable sleeping and be careful kneeling on the bare floor of the tent. A separate tarp folded down to tent size is an additional flooring option to keep off the ground, dry and provide some padding. The footprint does attach nicely to the tent, is super lightweight, easy to use and store.
The price of this item is good for the value. Should be factored into overall tent cost.
I accidently bought 2 of the footprints so double check the quantity of your order before submitting.

Wenzel Ridgeline 7 X 7-Feet Three-Person Dome Tent (Blue/LightGrey/Red) Review

Wenzel Ridgeline 7 X 7-Feet Three-Person Dome Tent (Blue/LightGrey/Red)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My family does a lot of camping in a trailer and the kids like to sleep in tents. We've been through a lot of tents over the years, and have chosen progressively smaller tents each time. This tent has everything that's important to me: a strong tub floor, two-pole assembly that the kids can do themselves, low profile so it won't blow over as easily, good zippers, and fits a queen size air mattress that two people can share. I was surprised and pleased by the fly's two mini-poles that fit horizontally over both windows to form little awnings. This tent is not just for the kids, though - I plan on using it myself. I'm happy to have found a good, simple tent that has everything I need.

Swiss Gear St. Alban Family Dome Tent (Sage/Light Grey/Orange) Review

Swiss Gear St. Alban Family Dome Tent (Sage/Light Grey/Orange)

We camped with this tent for the first time about a month ago. We weren't supposed to get any rain, but we had a HUGE thunder and lightening storm.Through out the night our tent swayed a good 2 feet back and forth. The rain was blowing everywhere. We zipped up the windows, but left the 2 floor vents open part way. We may have gotten 2 tablespoons of water in the tent. The tent held up beautifully. I was really impressed.I also love that it's so easy to set up. I was a little worried about the fact that the rain fly is so small. On my old tent the rain fly went all the way to the ground, on all sides. But, I'm totally sold on this tent after that storm.

Tired of camping with the family in "family sized" tents that barely fit you, your spouse, and a few bags? Turn to the Swiss Gear St. Alban eight-person dome tent, an extra-spacious shelter that's guaranteed to make you the envy of the campground. The tent is made of polyester taffeta, with a heavy SwissGuard fabric coating on both the fly and wall fabrics to protect campers from rain and wind. My wife and I went camping to an isolated beach quite far inside Brazil, they were charging for a rented tent about US$ 100 a night, so I decided to bring my own tent there, and I bought this one only for it's price and low weight.
What a pleasant surprise it was, we setted it up in 10 minutes during the night (first time camping for us), it was spacious enough for the queen size inflatable bed and two suitcases, even with wind and two big thunderstorms with rains the tent never fainted, only about 10 drops of water fell from the seams, but that was all, we stayed in it 5 nights, of course a bigger tent would have been better, but for the price and the weight (I had to travel 4 countries by plane + 5 hours in bus) it definitely was the best deal.

Great for family car campers and small groups, the Coleman Sundome 4 Tent sleeps four people comfortably. It measures 9'x7', with a 4'11" center height. The Sundome 4 Tent features a new Ground Vent for improved airflow; a privacy vent window offers more ventilation; and you can control airflow with Coleman's VariFlow adjustable ventilation. A convenient electrical-access port lets you run a cord from your device in the tent to a power supply outside. An interior gear pocket helps keep your things organized. Setting up this 2-pole dome tent is a breeze -- it sets up in 10 minutes or less, thanks to color-coded poles and sleeves, shock-corded poles, continuous pole sleeves, pin-and-ring design and InstaClip attachments. Easy-to-follow set-up instructions are sewn right into the carry bag, so you'll always have them handy. The frame is strong and wind-resistant, with 8.5mm fiberglass poles; the tent fabric is 68D polyester mesh and 75D polyester taffeta inside, with a 75D polyester taffeta flysheet. on the plus side, it didn't leak in a severe rain storm and has a lot of capacity for the cost. on the negative, the zippers were constantly getting snagged on the fringe around them...it was ridiculous to have to keep untangling it every time i opened and closed the tent. maybe i had a defective one, but it seemed more like a design flaw. i've had great luck with wenzel tents in the past (cheap and usually very reliable), but i'd skip this model. the door's zipper eventually got so snagged that i had to cut it out in order to have some kind of functioning door, and the tent got ended up getting abandoned after one use. displeased.

Spacious and weather-resistant, the Wenzel Pine Ridge 10-by-8-foot dome tent sleeps four to five campers in its two rooms, making it ideal for small families or couples with lots of gear. The Pine Ridge is made of rugged, weather-repellent Weather Armor polyester with a polyurethane coating for reliability, helping it keep water out and warmth in. The sonic-sealed, polyethylene tub-style floor, meanwhile, is welded and not sewn, eliminating needle holes that might otherwise attract water seepage. And campers will love the variety of ventilation points--including two mesh doors, one mesh window, and a mesh roof--which combine to create a refreshing cross breeze on warm evenings.
The Pine Ridge is also easy to set up, with shock-corded fiberglass poles and grommet pole attachments. And when it comes time to hit the sheets, you can either create one large sleeping room or roll down the divider curtain to create two separate rooms. The rooms can function as individual bedrooms for the campers or as a sleeping room and living area. Other details include a hooped fly at the front and rear for weather protection, two hanging pockets for storage, and a storage duffel.

Base: 10 by 8 feet
Center height: 60 inches
Area: 80 square feet
Capacity: 4 to 5 people
Carrying weight: 11.9 pounds
Warranty: 10 years

Bought this tent as a replacement for a similar sized tent I have used several times a year for 9 years - including the Sun'N'Fun Airshow camping under wing. My prior tent, Hillary, weathered every storm and kept me high and dry for 9 years. This tent is a joke in anything but perfect weather to a very light rain or wind. We were caught in heavy rain the first night, the light weight tent skin proved to be extremely porous where our air mattress, DOP kit, back pack, you name it came in contact from the inside however so slight! Woke up with all of our sheets, blankets, clothes, etc saturated with water. 2 days of cold & wet was not in our plans. This tent is also a wimp in the wind!! Tent is perfect in your back yard for the kids on a starry night, otherwise don't waste your money ! I just bought a Ozark Trail at Wally World for the Wanee Music Fest for half the price, has 2 extra windows and much better quality. Yes, it did rain one afternoon at Wanee and we were bone dry ! Comon Amazon !!!

So I took my tent out for a bachelor party weekend for my future brother in law back in March 2010 for a long weekend. Thankfully, I had the foresight to do a trial run to work out how to put the tent together because this was my first 5 sided tent. Setup was a breeze!!! Only problem I had was putting the rain cover on because I put it on facing the wrong way. It did better than expected because I set up my tent on wet ground and never felt wet the whole time. No moisture got in which is awesome when it got down to the 30s and I stayed dry. I have had a Wenzel sleeping bag for at least 15 years which is why I went with them for this tent. I will definitely use them again!

you could not put 4 people in this tent with a shoe horn and a pound of grease. It is a 2 person tent and they have to be short at that. The walls slope so much that the 7' dimension is laughable. And get this they went cheap and don't give you a storage bage for the tent, stakes or poles and brag about sto'n'go system. Puhleeze give me a break. If you want a cheap tent well you found it but do not expect to survive a wet, windy rainy night in this thing unless you put a tarp over it. No bags, no sealed seams, no room = no good.

Suisse Sport 6 Person Mammoth Dome Tent 12' x 10' with divider Review

Suisse Sport 6 Person Mammoth Dome Tent 12' x 10' with divider
Average Reviews:

I bought this tent for our family camping trip, and we loved it. Easy set up, very roomy, comfortable, and waterproof. There is a thin nylon divider that can be used to separate into two rooms, but we didn't use it. We also didn't use the small mesh shelf that can be attached in the top middle of the tent to keep glasses or other small objects out of the way. The two attached side pockets inside worked fine to keep glasses, cell phones, and car keys within easy reach. We had one queen mattress, one full mattress, two small electric fans (because even at night it can be hot in Texas), 2 backpacks, and 3 duffle bags in the tent - still plenty of room to step in and out and get around. The two doors were very convenient as well. We slept one night with the rain fly off and windows and doors zipped all the way up; the mesh at the top of the tent supplied both ventalation and privacy. With the rain fly on (during light rain) we just left a little part of one door and window unzipped. We were very comfortable inside all 5 nights. This tent looks simple, but it is well-planned and constructed. Set up and pack up is very easy as well.

Enjoy a little extra privacy when camping with friends with the Suisse Sport Mammoth two-room dome tent. Designed to sleep up to four people, the tent includes a removable divider that splits the tent in two. As a result, you can wall off other campers when changing clothes or sleeping, or you can remove the divider to create a single large room. The Mammoth also includes a zippered double D door with a storm mesh cover for easy entry and exit, along with a full-size rainfly with taped seams to keep you dry on moist evenings. And ventilation is always a concern in warm, muggy climates, which is why the Mammoth includes three no-see-um screen mesh windows and a mesh ceiling. Other features include two mesh interior pockets for storage, reinforced fiberglass poles for easy setup, and compliance with CPAI-84 fire requirements. The Mammoth tent measures 12 by 6 by 10 feet (W x H x D) and weighs roughly 17 pounds.

We were having our floors redone in our home and needed to store a ton of furniture for a week. We bought this tent for the size and the price. It set up super easy. It took about ten minutes with two people. We were able to fit all of the furniture in it. The second day it started to rain and i was a little worried the fabric on some of the pieces might get wet. When i went to check on it, everything was dry. Then day four we had a HUGE!!!!! rain storm and i was certain there was no way it would stay dry. It rained for 15 hours with strong winds. The next morning i went to look, and i couldn't believe no rain got inside. I would recommend this tent to everyone. My only suggestion would be to use heavier stakes, the ones that come with it are a little flimsy.
